James "Jaime" Kuykendall

Jaime Kuykendall runs the DEA's Guadalajara office, a company man trying to hold a fraying outpost together as Mexico's drug trade explodes around him. He's pragmatic, weary of bureaucracy, and protective of his agents, especially the younger ones eager to make cases the bosses back home don't want made.

Letscher plays him as the institution's conscience without ever turning saintly about it — a man who believes in the job even as he watches Washington's priorities and Mexico's corruption make a mockery of it. The performance is all controlled frustration, a career agent trying to protect his people inside a system built to fail them.
