Jackie Peyton

Jackie Peyton runs the ER at All Saints' Hospital in New York with total command, cutting corners and bending rules to get patients cared for properly. She's whip-smart, sharply funny, and seemingly unshakeable under pressure. She's also married with two kids, having an affair with the hospital pharmacist, and quietly popping pills between patients.

Edie Falco plays competence and collapse as the same gesture, never tipping her hand toward judgment or sympathy first. The show trusts her to be genuinely excellent at her job and genuinely dishonest with everyone in her life simultaneously, and Falco makes both true at once without softening either into the other.
