Jack Barker arrives at Pied Piper as the seasoned executive brought in to give the fledgling startup adult supervision. Silver-haired, smiling, fluent in management-speak, he talks growth curves and sales funnels while the engineers stare blankly. He wants control, credit, and a company built his proven way — and seems utterly convinced he's the hero of this story.

Tobolowsky plays corporate self-regard as pure comic music, every buzzword landed with the sincerity of a man who has genuinely never doubted himself. The writing hands him absurd jargon like 'conjoint analysis'; he sells it like scripture. The clash between his boardroom certainty and the engineers' contempt is where the show's funniest culture war lives.
