J.D. Lutz

Lutz is one of the writers cluttering the TGS room, a big, slow-moving presence content to sit at the bottom of the pecking order. He wants nothing more than to be left alone with his lunch and his mediocrity, rarely pushing back when the other writers mock him. Amiable, oblivious, and easy to overlook.

The joke of Lutz is how little he seems to notice he's a punching bag, and John Lutz plays that with a flat, unbothered calm that makes the abuse funnier than any comeback would. He's a background player who occasionally lands the whole episode's best throwaway line without appearing to try.
