Ishimatsu

Ishimatsu turns up in the rough, low-down corners of Edo's underworld, a yakuza-adjacent tough with a scarred face and a code he actually seems to live by. He talks big, drinks harder, and sizes up Mugen, Jin, and Fuu with the wary respect of a man used to trouble finding him first.

He's the kind of minor figure Samurai Champloo excels at: a hardened underworld type who could be a stock thug but instead gets a beat of real loyalty or regret. Ôtomo's gravelly delivery gives him weight, so the show's throwaway gangster texture suddenly feels lived-in and specific.
