Ishamael / The Man

He turns up in Emond's Field as a stranger with too much patience and too many questions, drawn especially to Mat Cauthon, whom he needles with riddles about fate and freedom. Calm, unhurried, and unnervingly reasonable, he speaks like someone who has already seen how the story ends.

Fares Fares plays him as seduction rather than menace — soft-voiced, amused, never raising his tone even when the words are monstrous. The show lets him argue rather than threaten, and that restraint is what makes him unsettling: he sounds like the only honest man in the room, which is precisely the danger.
