Irving

Irving turns up in Elliot's life as a fixer for the Dark Army, all folksy charm and used-car-salesman patter. He runs a dealership as cover, drops advice like a favorite uncle, and never once raises his voice — even as he makes clear that Elliot's choices are no longer entirely his own.

Cannavale plays menace as hospitality, all warmth and hand gestures, so the threat lands sideways instead of head-on. The writing gives him monologues that could be delivered by a life coach, and that mismatch between tone and stakes is what makes every scene with him feel like it could tip either way.
