Infosquito

Infosquito in Futurama (1999), played by David Herman.

Infosquito is a mosquito-shaped robot that descends on Futurama's world of viral gadgets and social networking to drain a very particular kind of blood: personal data. It buzzes in on citizens, jabs them, and extracts private information with the same clinical indifference a real mosquito shows toward itch cream.

The joke is in the design logic: Futurama takes a mundane anxiety, identity theft, and gives it a literal insect body with a proboscis built for extraction. David Herman's flat, buzzing delivery keeps the creature mechanical rather than cute, which is exactly what makes the satire about tech overreach land instead of soften into whimsy.

The Infosquito is an old fashioned method of collecting personal information used by Mom prior to the release of the eyePhone and the eyePhone 2.0. It collects information by placing its proboscis into the subject's forehead, and sucking it out of its brain as demonstrated on Bolt Rolands.
