Hugh DeAngelis

Hugh DeAngelis is Carmela's father, a semi-retired contractor who does small jobs on the side and shows up around the family table with old-world opinions and a wry, mumbling manner. He's not a mob figure himself, just a working man adjacent to money and power he half understands and half distrusts.

Tom Aldredge plays him as a shrug given human form, all dry asides and put-upon patience, which makes him a sly commentator on the family's excesses without ever raising his voice. He's a small, textured presence, the kind of relative every big Italian-American family has, and Aldredge makes every scene he's in quietly funny.
