Howard Morris

Howard Morris lives in the Arconia and desperately wants in on the action. A twitchy, oversharing neighbor with a devotion to his cats and a habit of turning up uninvited, he trails Charles, Oliver, and Mabel through their investigation, offering theories, gossip, and himself as a suspect, sleuth, or friend — whichever gets him noticed.

He's the show's needy-neighbor comic relief, but Michael Cyril Creighton plays the neediness so precisely — the hopeful over-explaining, the wounded blinking when he's dismissed — that Howard becomes funnier and sadder than a punchline should be. He's proof the series can spare affection even for its most easily mocked residents.
