Hitoka Yachi

Hitoka Yachi is a first-year at Karasuno who never planned on volleyball at all — she's dragged into the club by Shimizu and ends up staying as a manager, nervous, apologetic, and visibly out of her depth among boys who live and breathe the sport. She's anxious about doing things wrong, quick to spiral, but she keeps showing up.

She's the audience surrogate done right: someone who doesn't understand volleyball's stakes yet and has to learn them alongside us, which makes the sport's drama land for viewers who don't know a receive from a spike. Morohoshi plays her jitteriness with real comic timing, and her slow, earned confidence never tips into a personality transplant.
