Hisoka

A magician-turned-hunter with a jester's grin and a predator's patience, Hisoka drifts through the Hunter Exam sizing up the other candidates like fruit on a tree. He kills without hurry when it suits him, spares people when they interest him more alive, and openly says he is hunting for opponents strong enough to be worth fighting later.

The design does the first work — playing-card motifs, a lazy smile, a voice that purrs even when threatening children — but Namikawa's performance is what makes him unnerving rather than cartoonish, sliding between camp and real menace within a single line. You never trust the calm, which is exactly the point.
