Hippy #2 drifts through New New York as one half of a laid-back duo, forever mellow, forever behind the times, offering stoned non-sequiturs and gentle disapproval of the modern world's hustle. He wants nothing much beyond good vibes and maybe a snack, and he says so at whatever pace suits him.

He's a one-joke background gag, and the joke is timing: DiMaggio stretches every line into a lazy drawl that makes even mild observations sound like profound insight. The show never bothers explaining him, which is the point — a fossil of 20th-century counterculture wandering an indifferent future, utterly untroubled by his own irrelevance.
