Herb Ertlinger

Herb Ertlinger is one of Elmdale's local fixtures, a mattress salesman who turns up in the regular poker nights that pull Johnny Rose into small-town social life. He's affable, unglamorous, and entirely unbothered by the Roses' fallen fortunes, treating Johnny as just another guy at the table rather than a fallen mogul.

Herb is proof that Schitt's Creek's world extends past its main cast without needing much elaboration — a handful of scenes and a steady, unhurried delivery from Richard Waugh sketch a whole ecosystem of local men who've clearly known each other forever. He's funny by being utterly ordinary next to Johnny's disorientation.
