Henry Tanaka

Henry Tanaka is one of the teenage castaways marooned on a remote island in The Wilds' ensemble of survivors. Introduced amid the wreckage of a shared ordeal, he is watchful and quietly resourceful, more inclined to observe the group's shifting alliances than to lead them, feeling out who can be trusted before he commits to anyone.

The show's puzzle-box structure rewards a character who listens before he speaks, and Aidan Laprete plays Henry with a careful, contained stillness that makes his rare moments of openness land hard. He works because the camera trusts his face to do the explaining other characters do out loud.
