Henry

Henry works for the Dickinson household, quiet and watchful in a way that reads as deference until you notice how closely he's paying attention. He's courting Betty, a seamstress, with a formal, careful courtesy, and beneath the hired-hand role there's a sharpness and education he doesn't advertise to his employers.

Chinaza Uche plays the gap between what Henry is allowed to say and what he clearly knows, letting small looks and exacting diction do the work of a man constantly calculating his own safety. The show gives him a real inner life and ambitions of his own, and Uche makes his restraint feel like intelligence rather than passivity.
