Hélmer "Pacho" Herrera

Hélmer "Pacho" Herrera in Narcos (2015), played by Alberto Ammann.

Pacho Herrera is one of the sharp-suited godfathers of the Cali Cartel, a rival syndicate that prefers boardroom discipline to Escobar's theatrics. Meticulous, image-conscious, and quick to violence when crossed, he treats cocaine as a business to be run cleanly and profitably, with himself as its most polished executive.

Ammann plays him with a controlled elegance that makes the character's occasional brutality land harder for being unexpected. The show uses Pacho to complicate its picture of the drug trade — a criminal who values order and appearance over Escobar's chaos, letting the series explore ambition and menace without a single note of cartoonish villainy.

Herrera joined the Cali cartel in the late 1970s, and immediately rose to become one of the four leaders of the cartel. By 1986, the cartel leadership trusted him to independently lead negotiations with other drug cartels, such as the Medellín cartel and Guadalajara cartel. His feud with Guadalajara cartel was one of the factors which led to its disintegration in 1989.
