Hazel the McWitch

Hazel the McWitch turns up among the eccentric spirits and misfits of Rentaghost's ghostly employment agency, a cackling Scottish witch full of spells, mischief and brisk pronouncements. She bustles into other people's business with total confidence, ready to magic her way through any problem whether anyone asked her to or not.

Molly Weir plays her with the warm, bossy relish of a pantomime dame, turning a small comic role into something children actually looked forward to. The broad Scottish cackle and no-nonsense manner give the show a jolt of chaotic energy each time she appears, proof that a character need not be central to be memorable.
