Harry Garibaldi

Harry Garibaldi works plainclothes out of the Hill Street station, one more detective threading his way through the precinct's daily chaos of arrests, paperwork, and overlapping crises. Sharp-dressed and easy with people, he carries himself with a low-key confidence, more likely to talk his way through a situation than force it, comfortable in the noisy give-and-take of squad room life.

Ken Olin gives Garibaldi an unforced cool that stands out against the show's controlled chaos — he's never shouting to be heard in an ensemble built on overlapping dialogue. The writing lets him be a working detective first, individual quirks second, which makes the moments where his composure slips land with real weight.
