Harold Meaker

Harold Meaker runs Meaker's Ghostly Agency out of a shabby office, hiring out ghosts for odd jobs to anyone daft enough to need one. He is fussy, easily flustered, and forever exasperated by the spectral staff under his charge, though he never quite manages to sack any of them.

Edward Brayshaw plays the put-upon boss as the one flustered mortal trying to keep order among chaotic ghosts, and his prim exasperation is the joke's engine. He never winks at the audience; his total sincerity about running a proper business, however absurd, is exactly what makes the silliness around him land.
