Hank Larsson

The sheriff of a snowbound Minnesota town, Hank Larsson is steady, decent, and quietly sharp beneath a grandfatherly manner. He's protective of his family, unshowy in his authority, and inclined to underestimate how much darkness has crept into his community until the evidence forces him to look straight at it.

Ted Danson plays him as warmth without softness — a lawman whose kindness has never been mistaken for weakness. The show lets him be genuinely good without making him naive, and Danson finds the flinty resolve underneath the folksy charm, so his decency feels earned rather than quaint.
