Halig

Halig comes into Uhtred's orbit as a monk, raised to devotion and prayer rather than the sword. He is earnest and unworldly, uneasy with bloodshed, but drawn steadily toward the warband's world despite himself. Quiet, watchful, and sincere, he is a man trying to work out which life is actually his.

The character gives the show a rare view of faith from the inside, someone who takes it seriously rather than treating it as scenery, and Gerard Kearns plays that sincerity without irony, letting the discomfort of a gentle man edging toward violence read plainly on his face rather than through dialogue.
