Haesten

Haesten is a Danish warlord and pirate, quick with a blade and quicker with a promise he has no intention of keeping. He drifts between camps and kings as it suits him, all charm and calculation, always angling for gold, land, or advantage over whoever is currently useful to him.

The fun of Haesten is watching a man lie beautifully and get away with it, episode after episode. Jeppe Beck Laursen plays him with a grin that never quite reaches sincerity, turning every oath into a performance. He's a slippery counterpoint to the show's more honorable warriors, and the show knows it.
