Character

Gyp Rosetti

Gyp Rosetti in Boardwalk Empire (2010), played by Bobby Cannavale.

Gyp Rosetti is a small-time bootlegger and hijacker working the roads outside Atlantic City, quick with a joke and quicker to take offense. He wants respect he feels the world has never given him, and a slight—real or imagined—can turn him from affable to murderous in the space of a sentence.

Cannavale plays him as a live wire: charming, funny, self-pitying, and then suddenly terrifying, often within the same scene. The writing never explains away his volatility, it just lets you watch him decide, moment to moment, whether the world has insulted him enough to burn it down.

Giuseppe Colombano Rosetti, nicknamed "Gyp", was a main character and the main Antagonist in the third season of Boardwalk Empire. He is played by American actor Bobby Cannavale. When he travels to Tabor Heights, he uses the name D.L. Collingsworth, the actual name of the owner of the town's gas station.
