Green Elder

Green Elder is exactly what the name suggests: an elder among his people, called upon in a moment that needs someone with authority and age to speak for the group. He appears briefly, weighing in on events with the gravity of long experience, one more strange face in Futurama's crowded universe of passing aliens.

Futurama's genius is often in these glancing roles, and David Herman gives Green Elder the flat, dry authority of someone who has seen too much to be impressed by anything happening now. It's a small part, but it lands because the show never wastes a joke on a background voice.
