Grace Burgess

Grace Burgess arrives in Small Heath as a new barmaid at the Garrison, all poise and quiet composure amid the noise and grime of the pub. She sings beautifully, watches everything, and gives almost nothing away. Tommy Shelby notices her immediately — and so does the audience, sensing there is more to her than the job lets on.

Annabelle Wallis plays Grace as a held breath — elegant, self-contained, always slightly apart from the room she's in. The writing gives her secrets without tipping its hand, and Wallis lets you watch her calculate in real time while appearing merely gracious.
