Gloria Burgle

Gloria is the police chief of Eden Valley, Minnesota, quietly competent and unfailingly polite in a job that keeps handing her things nobody can explain. She's recently divorced, raising a teenage son, and mourning a stepfather whose death she can't stop investigating even after everyone else calls it settled. She just wants a straight answer.

Coon plays her with a stillness that reads as strength rather than passivity — she absorbs every slight and absurdity around her without flinching, which makes her rare moments of exasperation land hard. The show gives her a genuinely strange existential wrinkle (technology and modernity seem not to register her), and Coon makes that mystery feel like character rather than gimmick.
