Gladys Lennox drifts through the crowded background of New New York as one of the countless minor faces populating Futurama's world — a small voice among the show's sprawling ensemble, glimpsed rather than dwelt on, present to fill out a scene rather than anchor one.

Tress MacNeille's genius on this show has always been range: she can toss off a single line in a voice utterly distinct from the dozen other characters she's playing in the same episode. Gladys Lennox is a small proof of that versatility, one more texture in a vocal performance built almost entirely out of texture.
