Giant Medium-Sized Ant

A giant ant who is, despite the name, only medium-sized, this creature turns up in New New York as part of Futurama's endless parade of background weirdness. He goes about his business with the same shrugging normalcy as everyone else in the 31st century, mildly imposing but never quite explained.

The joke is entirely in the label: a 'giant' ant that the show immediately undercuts by insisting he's medium-sized, which is the kind of deadpan absurdity Futurama built its universe on. David Herman's voice work treats the whole thing with total sincerity, which is exactly why it lands.
