Ghost of Richard Burton

A boozy, velvet-voiced spirit who materializes to guide young Andrew Glouberman through the confusions of puberty, particularly the discovery of masturbation. He speaks in grand theatrical cadences, quotes his own legend shamelessly, and treats every awkward teenage impulse as material worthy of Shakespeare.

Nick Kroll's impression is the whole joke: that unmistakable Welsh baritone applied to the most undignified subject matter imaginable creates instant comic friction. The show could have used any generic pervy narrator, but grounding puberty's indignities in a specific, over-the-top celebrity impersonation makes the absurdity land harder and gives the bit unexpected staying power.
