Gerry Quinn

Gerry Quinn is Erin's da, a mild, put-upon presence in a house run by strong-willed women. He works, he grumbles, he tries to keep the peace between his wife, his daughter and the extended family circus, and he mostly loses. Domestic life happens around him rather than to him, and he takes it with weary good humour.

Tommy Tiernan plays him as a man permanently one beat behind the chaos, which is the joke and also somehow moving. He gets fewer big scenes than the girls, but his exasperated double-takes and small defeats ground the show's noise in something recognisably like an actual tired parent.
