Gerdis is one of the Empire's faceless functionaries, a minor officer moving through the machinery of occupation with quiet, unremarkable efficiency. He follows procedure, keeps his head down, and treats the system he serves as simply the way things are done, without question or apparent malice.

Andor's great trick is making its smallest cogs feel real, and Sam Gilroy plays Gerdis with exactly that flat, procedural calm — no cruelty, no swagger, just a man doing his job. That banality is the point: it shows how empires run on ordinary people who never think to ask why.
