Geralt of Rivia

Geralt is a witcher, a monster hunter altered by potions and training to be stronger and faster than ordinary men, marked out by white hair and cat-like eyes. He drifts from town to town taking contracts for coin, preferring the company of his horse Roach to people, and insisting, often unconvincingly, that he wants no part in the world's larger conflicts.

The gruff-loner routine is the joke and the point: everyone around him sees the decent man underneath the grunted 'hmm' long before he'll admit to it himself. Cavill plays that contradiction with physical control and dry timing, making Geralt's reluctant softness funnier and more affecting than a straightforward hero ever could be.
