George Michael's Head

George Michael's Head is one of the countless preserved celebrity heads bobbing in jars throughout the year 3000, a background fixture of the Head Museum rather than a driver of plot. Like the rest of Futurama's jarred singers and stars, he exists mostly as a sight gag glimpsed in passing, occasionally roped into a line of dialogue.

The joke works because of the show's deadpan commitment to a mundane afterlife for fame — pop stars reduced to talking décor, a punchline that never needs explaining twice. Maurice LaMarche, an actor famous for vocal impressions, brings just enough vocal specificity to a single line that the gag lands instantly and moves on.
