George Michael Bluth

George Michael is the Bluth family's one functioning moral compass, a shy teenager trying to run a frozen banana stand and stay decent while the adults around him spiral into schemes and self-delusion. He's devoted to his father Michael to an almost anxious degree, and hopelessly, painfully smitten with his cousin Maeby.

Cera's performance is a masterclass in stammering discomfort — every line reading is a small negotiation between wanting to please and wanting to disappear. The show surrounds him with narcissists, then makes his awkward decency the actual joke and the actual heart, which is a much harder trick than it looks.
