Gareth greets newcomers at the gates of Terminus with a rehearsed warmth, presenting himself as the calm, capable steward of a sanctuary built on trust and shared labor. He speaks in reasonable, measured tones, quick to defuse suspicion, always steering conversation toward safety and community — a young leader who seems to have figured out how to survive without losing his humanity.

Andrew J. West plays him with an unnerving evenness, a customer-service smile that never quite reaches urgency even when it should. The writing uses that calm as camouflage, letting Gareth's politeness do work that shouting couldn't.
