Garbage Disposal

A talking robot appliance in Fry, Leela, and Bender's world, the Garbage Disposal is exactly what it sounds like: a household unit with its own crude, grumbling personality, tucked into the corner of a scene for a line or two before vanishing back into the sink.

Futurama's running joke is that every object has a soul and an attitude, and Billy West's gravelly, put-upon delivery sells the bit instantly — a disposal with opinions is funnier the less fuss the show makes about it, and West never oversells the gag.
