Franz Buchner
Franz Buchner in Das Boot (2018), played by Konstantin Gries.
Oberleutnant zur See Franz Buchner is a newly appointed Commanding Officer. At first, he is very nervous and doesn't feel sure in his capabilities, always using a notebook to remember routines, but through the support from his 1WO Alois Erdmann and LI Robert Ehrenberg he slowly grows more confident. It is heavily implied that he only got this position through the influence of his family, and not due to his skills.
