Frank Verelli

Frank Verelli is a New York cop who drifts into Jackie Peyton's orbit through the hospital, steady and plainspoken where so much around him is not. He is easygoing, a little old-fashioned, genuinely decent — the kind of guy who says what he means and expects the same back, which makes him an odd fit for this world.

Adam Ferrara plays him with an unforced warmth that never tips into naivety; he's likable without being a pushover, which lets him function as a kind of moral weather gauge for the characters around him. Against the show's constant deception, his straightforwardness isn't dull — it's quietly disarming, and it makes you root for him.
