Frank Sheehan

Frank Sheehan is Mare's ex-husband, and he hasn't gone far — he lives in the converted garage behind her house, close enough to share dinners, arguments, and the raising of their grandson. He's about to remarry, a fact he'd rather ease into than announce, and he moves through old wounds with a weary, conciliatory patience.

David Denman plays a man trying to build a new life without demolishing the old one, and the show is generous enough to let him be decent without being simple. His scenes with Mare carry the specific ache of people who know each other too well to be strangers and too hurt to be friends — Denman finds the tenderness inside that exhaustion.
