She works the counter at Forbidden Planet Hollywood, a themed shop caught somewhere between sci-fi kitsch and fast food, and greets customers with the flat, over-rehearsed cheer of someone reciting a script for the hundredth time. She wants nothing more than to get through her shift; the future has not made retail any less tedious.

Futurama's genius is in its background gags, and this employee is one of them: a single-scene role built entirely on tone, the deadpan delivery of corporate-speak in a world that's supposed to be dazzling. MacNeille finds the exact pitch of bored customer-service voice, and the joke lands because nobody around her seems to notice how funny that is.
