A noodly deity summoned for a quick joke, the Flying Spaghetti Monster turns up as Futurama's nod to the internet's favorite satirical god — a tangle of pasta and meatballs presiding with mock-solemn authority over whatever cosmic nonsense the plot requires, gone as fast as it arrived.

The gag lands because Maurice LaMarche, a voice actor built for grandeur, gives a plate of noodles the same booming gravitas he'd give a genuine god. That mismatch between the absurd design and the full-throated delivery is the whole joke, and it's over before it can wear out its welcome.
