Florp

Florp turns up as one of the many odd faces populating the fringes of New New York, the kind of alien or minor bureaucrat who exists mostly to complicate somebody else's plan. He's brisk, faintly self-important, and treats whatever small task he's been given as the most pressing business in the universe.

David Herman has a gift for clipped, deadpan delivery, and he uses it here to make a walk-on feel oddly specific rather than interchangeable. Futurama thrives on background characters who seem to have whole lives just offscreen, and Florp's brusque officiousness is exactly the kind of small, funny texture that makes the show's world feel crowded and lived-in.
