FBI Agent Clinton Jones

Clinton Jones is one of Peter Burke's steady, capable agents at the FBI's White Collar Crime unit in New York, brought in to help manage the arrangement with con man Neal Caffrey. He's sharp, disciplined, and skeptical of shortcuts, doing the legwork of real investigation while keeping a watchful eye on the newest, least trustworthy member of the team.

Jones works because he's the show's ballast — a competent professional who treats the job as a job, not a game, which throws Neal's charm and Peter's improvisation into relief. Sharif Atkins plays him with dry, unshowy confidence, letting small reactions do the work, so his trust has to be earned rather than assumed.
