Faye

Faye is engaged to Frank, Mare's ex-husband, and is trying to build a life with him in the same small Pennsylvania town Mare still haunts. She's warm, a little anxious, eager to be liked, and caught in the awkward position of merging her wedding plans with a family that never quite lets go of its old shape.

Kate Arrington plays Faye without a trace of villainy, which is the smart choice — she could easily be written as the interloper, but instead she's just a decent woman navigating an impossible social situation with grace. That restraint makes the show's small-town tangle of ex-spouses and shared history feel lived-in rather than melodramatic.
