Father Pyrlig

A Welsh priest who turns up wherever Uhtred does, Pyrlig is a man of God who is just as comfortable with a sword in his hand as a psalm on his lips. Bearded, booming, and unshakeably good-humoured, he treats faith and combat as two halves of the same calling.

Cavan Clerkin plays him with such warmth that he becomes an oasis of decency amid all the scheming — a churchman who never sneers at pagans and never postures about his piety either. The show uses him to prove that goodness and toughness aren't opposites, and Clerkin's easy charisma sells it completely.
