Fat-Bot

Fat-Bot is one of the many rust-belt robots populating Futurama's background, a heavyset unit whose bulk and wheezing presence turn up in crowd scenes and bar stools around New New York. He doesn't drive plot so much as decorate it, grumbling and lumbering through the margins of other people's stories.

David Herman, already juggling half the show's incidental voices, gives Fat-Bot the kind of throwaway texture that makes Futurama's universe feel lived-in rather than staged. The joke isn't the character so much as the commitment to a world where even the robots have weight problems, and Herman sells that absurdity without ever underlining it.
