Evil Rick

Evil Rick is a version of Rick from another dimension entirely, distinguished by an eyepatch and a colder, more calculating edge than the Rick we know. He turns up amid the wider multiverse of Ricks as a genuine threat, working an agenda that puts him at odds with our protagonists.

The joke and the menace both come from recognition — every tic of Rick's genius and contempt is present, just aimed with actual malice instead of self-destructive love. Roiland voicing both sides makes the contrast eerier, and it forces the show to ask what separates our Rick from the worst version of himself.
