Evan Huang

Evan is the youngest of the Huang boys, a sweet, eager-to-please kid who wants nothing more than to be liked by teachers and adults alike. Sensitive and a little anxious, he's the family's peacemaker, quick with an apology and quicker with an earnest, wide-eyed reaction to whatever chaos surrounds him.

Ian Chen plays Evan's earnestness completely straight, which is exactly why it lands as funny — his horror at rule-breaking or his need to smooth things over reads as genuine rather than performed. Against a household of louder, brasher personalities, Evan's quiet, teacher's-pet sincerity gives the show a soft, dependable comic rhythm.
