Ethelrida Pearl Smutny

Ethelrida is a sharp, watchful teenager growing up in her family's Kansas City funeral home, caught at the edges of a brewing war between rival crime syndicates. Precociously smart and quietly ambitious, she narrates the world around her with a historian's eye, noticing everything the adults assume she's too young to understand.
